ANADIGICS Innovation Improves Input Match at High and Low Gain Settings
WARREN, N.J., Nov. 4 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- ANADIGICS, Inc. , a leading supplier of wireless and broadband solutions, today announced that it was assigned patent 6,803,824 for a new dynamic input matching technology for cascode circuits with the ability to improve input matching at high and low gain settings. Cascode amplifiers are known for excellent dynamic range, noise figures and reverse isolation.

It is important in radio frequency integrated circuits that impedance be carefully matched at each stage since impedance discontinuities may cause reflections. Reflections may collide to cause voltage spikes, or spurs, which may result in various undesirable effects such as poor reliability, poor stability or unpredictable behavior. Patent 6,803,824 describes a gain/impedance controller that generates a level setting gain control voltage, which controls the overall gain of the driver stage. As the gain changes, the gain/impedance controller changes the load impedance, preventing a changing match.
